It is time for November favorites hunties. November was a fairly crappy month for most of us I believe so here are some things that got me through it!

  1. Lizzo

I saw Lizzo live at ACL (Austin City Limits) back in October and I had never heard of her before. But man did she put on a show! She is a whole lotta woman in the best way possible. She was also wearing all black, twerking on stage in 90 degree weather. RESPECT. She sings and raps about what it’s like to be a badass woman, so what’s not to like? As soon as I got back from the festival I looked up her latest album and saved it to my Spotify. November felt like waiting in line at the DMV and this mama needed some inspiration. I needed some music to uplift me and make me feel like a badass because I am one. And sometimes I forget that I am, but Lizzo reminded me of what being a badass queen should be like. If you need a pick me up and some tunes to bump, check out Lizzo’s EP, Coconut Oil. It will have you shimmying and snapping in your car. All of her most current music is on Spotify.

Favorite tracks: Coconut Oil, Good As Hell, and Phone.

  2. Old Navy Mid-Rise Rockstar Skinny Jeans

I can’t stop wearing these jeans ya’ll. They are comfortable enough to wear to sleep really. They’re stretchy and mid-rise, so they don’t fall throughout the day. These are probably the only pants I’ve found that don’t stretch out the more you wear them. You don’t have to wash them for them to fit just right, which is awesomeeeee. I’m short (5’4”) so they go down past my ankles and are even a bit long on me, but if you’re taller I’d assume they would look more like the model in the picture. They don’t look or feel like jeans, they look a bit more polished. I’ve worn them to work a few times, but they are pretty skinny so if your workplace is super professional you might want to save them for the weekend. They come in a variety of different colors (I have the ones pictured above), and you can get them online right now for $34.94. I’m about to buy them in every color because they’re amazing.

  3. Airbnb

Airbnb is something I have used quite a bit before, but lately I’ve just felt so many warm fuzzies for this company. For those of you that don’t know what it is, basically it is a website that allows people to rent out their homes/rooms in their house for weekend or days at a time to other people. It is kind of like couch surfing, but a little different. The biggest reason I love it is that you can find some cheap places to stay, it is way cheaper than staying at a hotel. You can find homes/rooms all over the world on their website and read the reviews from people who have stayed there in the past. You can filter your results be selecting if you want an entire home/apartment or just a room/couch in someone’s home. Most of the time the home owner is not there during your stay, but sometimes they are. This can be a great way to find where locals go in the city you are staying in etc. I stayed in an Airbnb on my recent trip to New Orleans and it was awesome and conveniently located. I also just booked a cool, retro, renovated airstream trailer for my trip to Big Bend National Park at the end of the year. I have had pretty good experiences with Airbnb, so I’d give it a try if I were you! It will save you a ton of money when traveling and it is a cool way to experience a new place. If you’re nervous about staying in someone else’s house, just take the leap. It can be a tad awkward at first, but once you get used to it, it doesn’t seem strange! Check it out!

  4. Greek Orzo Salad

If you want to feel like a real adult with a tiny bit of effort, this is the dish for you! I forgot to take a picture of my own, so I just used a stock photo, mine looks a little different than the one pictured above. Orzo is like a cross between pasta and rice, thicker than rice for sure. It is most often used in soups and salads. I’ve become very fond of greek salad over the past few years, and I’ve always loved pasta salad, but I wanted a way to merge the two without the heaviness of pasta salad. And sometimes a regular salad with lettuce doesn’t fill me up if there isn’t much protein. Enter greek orzo salad! It is extremely easy to make, I just use the cooking instructions for the orzo that are on the box (it is kind of like rice, you have to cook it a particular way), and the rest is basically just cutting up veggies. I’ll list the ingredients below:

    Red Onion
    Cherry Tomatoes
    Feta Cheese
Greek Dressing (I use Wishbone brand)
    Kalamata Olives
    Parsley (optional)
    Lemon Juice (optional)

Basically you just cut up all the veggies to your desired size, cook the orzo, mix the veggies and orzo together, and then mix the dressing and feta cheese in. I like to eat mine cold, but you could also eat it warm. I’m not a huge fan of olives, so I leave those off mine, it all just depends on what you like. It is perfect for lunches or as a side dish. And it is super duper easy!

  5. Mrs. Meyer’s Peppermint Holiday Hand Soap

Oh mannnnn. I’m not a huge Christmas person, or at least I don’t feel like it is as fun or special since I’ve gotten older. I’m not a Christian, but Christmas for me has always been more of a celebration of family and love, so when I was younger I got really pumped for it. I’ve found that since I’ve become older, in order to get myself in the Christmas spirit it really takes a lot of effort. I have to watch Christmas movies and listen to Christmas music and bake cookies and burn holiday candles the whole month of December to get me to MAX Christmas spirit. Last year I felt like Christmas just came and went because I didn’t amp myself up for it, so this year I am making all the efforts. This past weekend I took a trip to Target and gathered up a bunch of Christmas decor and Christmas candles. Then I came across this soap. I use Mrs. Meyer’s anyway (I know, I know….I’m a hipster), but something about Peppermint just makes me think of Christmas. It must have been all of those candy canes I only hate half of as a child 🙂 Mrs. Meyer’s soap is awesome though. It smells great, it doesn’t dry your hands out, and it is made of all natural ingredients. It is cruelty free and free of all harsh chemicals and parabens. The soap is $4.00 and available at pretty much any grocery store. Mrs. Meyer’s makes a lot of other products too like laundry detergent and household cleaners, so if you’re interested in that, check em out!

There you have it peeps! Hopefully there are some things on here you’d like to try out. Peace and love 🙂
